A Press machine is a tool that applies a high pressure to an object or material placed in it in order to change the object’s shape. Presses have been used for hundreds of years, long before the application of electricity and hydraulics. The processing of liquid from fruits and vegetables, such as olives and grapes have employed hand made, wooden screw presses and other similar devices that would exert enough pressure to render juice or oil.

Metal press machine is used to reconfigure metal, (even steel), to make the piece more usable for a specific application. This operation is accomplished through the use of hydraulics or by operation of an adjustable screw process to transfer energy, (in the form of pressure), to the material. Because of the pressures involved the hydraulic press has the most application with metal formation.

Heat press machine is used to convey this pressure concept in concert with application of heat in order to melt the material, (such as thermoplastics). Called thermo-forming, this procedure creates a product with a texture, or usable shape as an immediate outcome.

The temperature ranges required depends upon the heat response of the materials used. An example of the finished product would be the plastic dash board of an economy car or any number of shaped pieces that make up cars, machines, furniture, etc.

Steam press machine is designed to iron material to remove wrinkles or, (in a broad range of applications), to transfer designs onto material via colored latex patches that melt into the fabric under heat and pressure. The clothes press machine is in virtually every household. It’s called an iron.

As you can see, presses and press machine related inventions are distinguished by the type of control (manual, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic) Or to the structure or purpose of the press.

One of the oldest types of press machine is the printing press. The original consisted of a scaffold base on which the paper was placed. On an upper plate, (platen), the print type forms were placed, hand inked, and lowered to contact the paper below.

By tightening the platen against the paper using a spindle, pressure is exerted and the printing is established. Over the centuries, the platen modernized. Later cylinder presses and rotary presses developed which greatly increased production rates.

The modern presse machine incorporates hydraulics, electrical motors, heat transfer and, (of course), presses that not only print the text and pictures but shape and fold the paper. No matter what the application, the press machine has proven a vital technology for shaping our world.
